Preserving Perfection: A Guide to Properly Storing Liquor

February 28, 2025

Maintaining the quality of your liquor is important so it can remain enjoyable over time. One of the ways you can do this is to know how to store them.

Whether you are a connoisseur of liquor or just a casual enjoyer, understanding the key factors is essential. In this blog, we will explore the necessary steps how to store your liquor.

Store At Room Temperature

Generally, spirits should be stored in a cool dark area as exposure to extreme temperatures for a long time can impact the taste and degrade the flavors.

It is recommended to store them at room temperature which is around 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Some experts recommend storing them at a lower temperature of around 55 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

Avoid the Sun and Humidity

If you like to keep your liquor in the open, make sure that they are away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Sunlight can affect the taste and drastically change the color while humidity can reduce the alcohol. On top of this, it can also cause corks to swell and break off.

Sealing and Storage Method

Once you open a bottle, it is important to seal and store the liquor properly to maintain its freshness. While it’s okay to store them with the sprout on, it is much better to keep their stoppers and recap them tightly.

And unlike wines, which are recommended to be kept on their sides, keeping your liquor upright is a must especially if it uses a cork.

Keeping them upright will prevent strong alcohol from letting the cork disintegrate and mix with your alcohol.

Don’t let your cherished spirits lose their luster! Remember to store at room temp, protect from the sun, and seal them tightly so you can be ready to enjoy a perfectly preserved drink.
